No thanks to PFAS in the drinking water

October 18, 2024

After several years of growing concern about the so-called "forever chemicals" like PFAS*, BRITA now offers a simple and durable solution. With a BRITA filter jug, you can significantly reduce the risk of ingesting these chemicals through your drinking water. They are simply filtered out.

PFAS – just the name can send a chill down your spine. These substances, found in everything from clothing to kitchenware and cosmetics, are known for being almost impossible to break down in nature and for potentially harming health. Several of them are even suspected of being carcinogenic.

Since the 1940s, PFAS have been used in hundreds of products, but the problem is that they contaminate groundwater and linger for a long time. Exposure primarily occurs through food, water, and air. Many environmental organizations have long demanded an EU ban on these chemicals, as some of them can be directly harmful to our health.

But now there is good news from BRITA, the German specialist in water filtration. Independent tests from both Japan and the USA confirm that BRITA's MAXTRA PRO ALL-IN-1 filter can remove up to 80% of PFOA and PFOS. "We are super happy to provide consumers with peace of mind," says Dr. Stephan Eichhorn from BRITA. "Our MAXTRA PRO ALL-IN-1 filter removes up to 80% of PFOA and PFOS."

Although waterworks are already making great efforts to remove harmful substances, there can still be small residues in your water. Therefore, it might be a good idea to take the final step and filter your drinking water at home to be completely sure.
